Team Havant

Whether you’re playing for fun and fitness, or aiming to compete at the highest level, Havant Sixth Form College offers fantastic opportunities and sports facilities.
We cater for and encourage those students wanting to play at the highest level but also those entering sports for the first time through our sports teams and recreational sessions.
You do not have to be studying a sports related course to take part in Team Havant. The trials take place during our Summer School so you will be ready to start training as soon as you start with us in September.

Fantastic Facilities

On campus, we have an international standard floodlit hockey pitch, two grass football pitches and additional training grounds, plus a large four badminton court sized sports hall. We also use Havant Park for cricket and play rugby at Havant Rugby Club.


We have two teams playing in the country’s largest and most established College league. In 2012/2013 one team won the British Colleges Plate. Both teams train together weekly with our expert coaches.


We have a strong record in hockey. Our men’s team were British Colleges Cup finalists in 2012 and runners-up in the National Tertiary Cup in 2011, while the mixed team made the National Finals. In 2015/16 we had two players selected for national trials and training squad.


Our rugby team plays in the Hampshire Colleges League and other competitive cups and tournaments throughout the year.

In the 2015/2016 season, our rugby team won the Hampshire President’s 7s beating local colleges and independent schools, the Hampshire College’s 7s and were unbeaten in the Hampshire College’s League.

We work closely with the RFU to offer coaching and officiating courses and have formal links with Havant RFC.


Our men’s and women’s teams play in the Hampshire League. In the 2012/2013 season our women’s team won the British Colleges Plate Trophy.


Netball is one of our fastest-growing sports, we now have two teams playing in the Hampshire League and local tournaments.


We have just been awarded Badminton England Premier College status and compete in the Hampshire Colleges League and British Colleges Cup games and fixtures.

We have had teams and individuals qualify for the National Finals. In 2014/2015 we won the National Plate Finals.

Table Tennis

Regular training sessions happen throughout the week and we have developed a strong squad that have been runners-up in Hampshire competitions in 2013/2014 and runners up in the South East regional competition in 2014/2015.


During the Summer Term, we offer students the chance to compete in the Hampshire competitions and have in 2013, started all year round training. We have become the strongest college team in the local area with players representing Hampshire Women’s and Hampshire Youth Academy.


During the Summer Term, we offer students the chance to compete in the Hampshire competitions and were county runners up in 2013.


We were ranked sixth in the country in the British Colleges competitions in 2014 and we were the South East of England Champions 2013/2014. In 2014/2015 our girls team finished third in the region. We also have links with local clubs.


We have entered individuals into the British Colleges competitions and in 2014/2015 won the gold medal in the men’s competition.

British Colleges Sport

In the 2015 National Finals, held at the University of Bath, we won the gold medal in Men’s Trampoline Competition; in 2014, we won silver in the Women’s Individual Badminton and our mens’ volleyball team were placed 6th in the National Finals; in 2013, two Havant Sixth Form College students achieved places in the trampolining squad, helping the South East Region Trampoline Squad to achieve first place in the National Finals. 


You do not have to be studying a sports related course to take part in Team Havant.
