Student health & wellbeing
Here for you
We know it can be a big jump from school to college – academically, socially and personally. If you need support, have concerns or just need some friendly advice, there are plenty of people and services you can turn to.
Your personal tutor
Your personal tutor will be a very important figure in your life at Havant Sixth Form College. You’ll have regular group tutorials, and one-to-one sessions where they’ll help you set targets and monitor your progress and talk through any personal or academic issues. As a first-year tutor group, you’ll also have a mentor – a second-year student who’ll give you the benefit of their experience and inside knowledge!
Welfare and counselling
Whatever you’re dealing with, you don’t have to do it alone. Our student counselling service is always here to offer advice, put you in touch with specialist help, or just talk things through in quiet, relaxed surroundings. Of course, everything we discuss will be kept totally confidential.
Financial support
Through our Access Funds, we can help students from families on low incomes or receiving benefits, with the costs of course materials, trips and travel.
Students with disabilities
We welcome students with disabilities and do all we can to enable them to participate fully in college life. Please contact the Academic Support Centre for a copy of our Disability Statement.
Religious support
We have a prayer room available for students of all faiths; the College Chaplain offers guidance and counselling, either individually or in small groups. We also have an active Christian Union.
Gifted and talented
If you’ve been identified as Gifted and Talented (G&T) at school – academically, in sport or the arts – you’ll get extra support, including help with applying for Oxbridge, Russell Group universities, or a medicine, veterinary science or law degree. In your second year, you’ll be in a tutor group with other G&T students. You may wish to consider the AQA Baccalaureate programme.
