GCSE: Extended Project Qualification Level 2

Why study Extended Project Qualification Level 2?

The AQA Higher Project Qualification allows students to discover the joys of independent learning, take responsibility for their own study and develop new life and study skills. The Higher Project can be taken alongside other level 2 (GCSE) or level 3 (AS/A-level) qualifications. It is an excellent way of boosting a CV.The Level 2 Higher Project will develop and extend from one or more of your college subjects and/or from an area of personal interest or activity outside your main programme of study. The student chooses the topic, which has to be approved by the project coordinator.

What will I study?

Students go through these steps:

• choose an area of interest

• draft a title and aims of the project for formal approval by the centre

• plan, research and carry out the project

• deliver a presentation to a non-specialist audience

• provide evidence of all stages of project development and production for assessment.

At all stages a supervisor gives friendly advice and teaches important skills.

Most students will write a 2000-word report about their topic, but some may choose to make something or perform something, and in this case a shorter 500-word report is required. It is possible to do a group project, but the report must be all your own work.
