Havant Sixth Form College

Certificate: Higher Sports Leaders Course (HSLC)

Why study Higher Sports Leaders Course (HSLC)?

The Higher Sports Leaders course (HSLC) follows on from the CSLA qualification and is suitable as a fourth subject for anyone looking at people-management careers, not necessarily in the sporting field. The HSLA gives all those over 17 years of age the opportunity to train and provide voluntary assistance alongside qualified coaches or teachers, thereby increasing their own knowledge, confidence and experience.

What will I study?

You will attend four lessons per week and all units must be completed. A voluntary community placement of at least 30 hours is also fulfilled.

 The units of work are:

  • Leadership in the Community
  • Basic First Aid and Sports Injury Module
  • Disabled People and Sport
  • Introducing Children to Sport
  • National Governing Body Award
  • Fitness
  • Organising an Event

How will I be assessed?

  • Continual internal assessment
  • You must complete all modules
  • You will be externally moderated

What are the entry requirements?

You must hold the Community Sports Leaders Award.
