BTEC: Information Technology Level 3 Extended Diploma
Why study Information Technology Level 3 Extended Diploma ?
This BTEC course is equivalent to three A Levels and is highly valued by universities and colleges, as well as by employers. Many students go on to university to do computer science, software engineering, robotics, information technology, computer games design, multimedia computing and computing for business. Or you can go into a job straight away within the IT industry as you will have achieved a nationally recognised Level 3 vocational qualification in a variety of areas, such as systems support, analysis and design, software testing, network administration, education and training.
What will I study?
During your first year, you will explore units such as computer systems, information systems, digital graphics and computer animation. In your second year you can specialise in units such as principles of software design, development, object oriented and event driven programming and programming computer games.
How will I be assessed?
The course is continuously assessed by a range of methods which include practical demonstrations, presentations, program writing and program testing, website construction, blogs and reports. All units are graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction.
What are the entry requirements?
Normally, you will be expected to have a minimum of five GCSE’s at grades A-C, including English or other equivalent qualifications.
You do not need to have previously studied computing before commencing the course.
