Havant Sixth Form College

A Levels: Travel & Tourism

Why study Travel & Tourism?

The travel and tourism industries are growing rapidly, opening up huge opportunities for further study and employment in the UK and overseas. On this course, you’ll develop skills highly valued by universities and potential employers such as planning, organisational, evaluation skills, team building and individual project management. Many students go on to study tourism and event management and international hospitality at university, before taking up management careers in the travel and tourism industries at home and abroad.

What will I study?

Your AS modules include: introducing travel and tourism, customer services, and travel destinations. A2 consists of three further units: event management (where you’ll plan, deliver and evaluate a travel and tourism project as part of a team), tourism development and a guided tour (your own portfolio project).

How will I be assessed?

33% written exam and 67% coursework, which may include projects, case studies, presentations and assignments.

What are the entry requirements?

Whether you wish to study for either the AS Level or the full A Level you will need to have at least 5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above.
