Havant Sixth Form College

BTEC Diploma programme

The practical way to achieve your ambitions.

If you’re not keen on exams, want to get some practical work experience while you study, or already have a definite career in mind, a BTEC course could be the ideal alternative to A Levels for you.

On this route, you’ll study one specialist area in detail. You’ll be assessed by coursework, projects and practical assignments, so there are no external exams to worry about (although you will have deadlines to meet!). If you do decide you want to go to university, your BTEC will be treated as an A Level equivalent.

The other big difference is that a BTEC is much more practical. Everything you learn will be directly job-related. A BTEC is an extremely attractive qualification to employers and will really help you get onto a training or apprenticeship scheme.

Plus, of course, you’ll have all the same support and enrichment opportunities as people doing more academic courses at Havant Sixth Form College. A great way to get your career off to the best possible start.

Entry requirements

To join a Level 3 BTEC course, you should have four to five GCSEs at A* to C including English Language or A Level 2 BTEC Diploma including English Language and Mathematics GCSEs.
