Havant Sixth Form College share ‘Going Google’ with Alan Mak MP and Havant Headteachers

Havant Sixth Form College has embraced the exciting world of Google Apps for Education for the classroom. These tools enable our students to share and learn interactively in the cloud. Google Classroom is enabling our students to learn anytime, anywhere, using any device!

On Friday 8 July the College hosted a meeting with Alan Mak MP and Headteachers from the Havant Federation. "Ensuring local students have the best start in life is one of my top priorities as the local MP. Havant Sixth Form College have launched a pioneering technology plan using Google Apps for Education, and I was delighted to bring together local head teachers to explore how other schools and colleges can follow in their footsteps. Innovative technology like Chromebooks can help students in and out of the classroom, and I look forward to developing this exciting venture in the months ahead" Alan Mak MP, Havant.

The meeting was attended by Jeminatu Alabi-Isama, Google’s Regional Education Manager sharing the vision for the future of digital learning. “Havant College has a vision to include more schools into their community, where students and teachers are encouraged to share and work collaboratively across campuses. We are excited to see how Havant progress with their teaching and learning objectives and are looking forward to working with them along the way”

The College anticipates that this innovation will be a step change in how our students learn in the future: working with others is a key dynamic to new learning. ‘Our students are spending more time collaborating and preparing for their lessons than before we started our Going Google initiative; analysis of our mock exam grades shows indicates that this ‘flipped learning’ will lead to excellent outcomes on A Level results day in August’. We will be hosting our launch event at the College on Friday 2 September 2016 where senior leaders from partner schools will be able to listen to key representatives from Google for Education and Dell, as well as use new technology in interactive workshops.
