Havant Sixth Form College celebrates sustained and rising student success rates

Results published today indicate that yet again students from Havant Sixth Form College have achieved outstanding A Level results. For the 20th year running pass rates are again pushing 100% at A2 level.

A pass rate in excess of 98% was recorded with three quarters of our students achieving the challenging A* to C grades at A Level. 49% of our students achieved the toughest high A* to B grades which exceeds the national benchmark for Sixth Form Colleges. 32 of our A Level subjects achieved an impressive 100% pass rate.

In addition to achieving outstanding pass rates at A Level, Havant Sixth Form College is proud that just under 600 A*/A grade passes were recorded.

Our average points score has risen yet again from 806 to 815. Last year there was no better state sector college in the local area post 16 in the DES Achievement and Attainment tables at A Level.

John McDougall, College Principal declared “I am really delighted with these outstanding results which exceeded those of 2010 and previous years. Pass rates are very good at 98% but what is as important, when university places are tight, and the level of competition for them is so intense, is the number of students who achieved A* to B grades at 49%. These are the grades which are the key to our students fulfilling their ambitions by getting into the best university courses and the best jobs. The vast majority of our A Level students will meet the requirements of their chosen first or second university courses. Congratulations to all our A Level students for their hard work and to our staff for their commitment and excellent levels of individual support. This set of results endorses Ofsted’s high regard for the excellent levels of teaching and learning at Havant Sixth Form College."
