A Level Student Wins NHS Solent Creative Writers Competition

This academic year A Level student Jamie Wernham won the NHS Solent Creative Writers Competition, which was aimed at encouraging aspiring young writers. Jamie chose to compose a poem focusing on the stresses young people face in everyday life.

Jamie exclaimed’ “Poetry has been one of my passions for a long time. Though my writing style was completely open, I felt a poem would be more effective as it is one of the more expressive ways to address sensitive but important issues.

Receiving such recognition for my work has been wonderful, but being able to show that people from our age group can achieve the things they set their mind to was even better.”

Jamie received a certificate of achievement for her work. A copy of her work was also featured in the Trust’s magazine SHINE and published on their website.
