A Level Results

Results published today indicate that yet again students from Havant College have achieved outstanding A Level results. With pass rates pushing 100% for the last seven years.

A pass rate in excess of 97% was recorded with the majority of students achieving the tougher A* to C grades at A Level. 48% of our students achieved the high A* – B grades which exceeds the national benchmark for Sixth Form colleges. 50% of A Level subjects achieved a 100% pass rate.

In addition to achieving outstanding pass rates at A Level, Havant College is proud that just under 750 A*/A grade passes were recorded, with 110 Havant College students achieving 3 or more passes at grade A.

Almost a quarter of our A Level students achieved either an A* or A grade. We are extremely proud that in the first year of the A* grades, 105 A* grades were recorded at A Level.

Student Success

Other students who achieved their high grade A Levels were, Chris Aydon (ex Hayling College pupil) who was awarded two A* and three A grades to secure his place to study Maths and Physics at Warwick University, Charlie Temperley (ex Ditcham Park School pupil) achieved four straight A grades to successfully secure his place to study Maths and Philosophy at Nottingham University, Andrew Watson (ex Portchester Community School) achieved two A* and two A grades to study Maths at Warwick and Katie Pugh (ex Bourne Community pupil) who achieved one A* and two A grades whilst also maintaining her sports commitment as a member of both the Havant College’s Sports Academy and Havant Hockey Ladies 1st team. Katie will be studying Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Portsmouth.

John McDougall, College Principal said “I am really pleased with these results which exceeded those of 2009. Pass rates are good at 97% but as important, when university places are tight, is the number of students who achieved ‘A*- B’ grades at 48%. These are the grades which are the key to getting into the best university places and once again we are above the Sixth Form sector average. Achieving exam success in this way will enable our students to fulfil their own ambitions. Congratulations to all Havant students for all their hard work and to our staff for producing yet again an excellent set of results.”

The College takes achievement seriously and that means more than just academic success. Havant College believes all students should be supported individually in choosing the university course that is right for them and should have a lot of fun along the way.

Oxbridge Success

Havant College is proud to announce that all students who were offered conditional places at Oxbridge have achieved the grades needed for their course offers from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. They have been accepted to the very competitive fields of Economics and Management, Philosophy, Cambridge English and Education, History and Maths and Computing.

We were particularly delighted that Suzannah Langdon-Shreeve (ex Ditcham Park pupil), who will be reading Cambridge English and Education at Cambridge, achieved her phenomenal results, A* grades in all four of her A Level subjects whilst hospitalised with a serious illness.
