1
We’re your kind of people.
At Havant Sixth Form College, you’ll be with like-minded people, who want to work hard, do well and get on in life. We’re a tight-knit community of 1300 students and you’ll be on first-name terms with your teachers, who’ll set high standards, then help you achieve them.
2
We’ll put YOU first.
It’s your life, your future, so we’ll help you put together a programme of study that gets you where you want to go. You can use our open evenings, a taster day or our student shadowing scheme to get some ideas, then talk through your options in detail at your one-to-one interview. At every stage, we’re here to listen, advise and support you in your choices.
3
We’ll give you more choice.
We offer you the most extensive range of A Levels in the area – 49 subjects in all – as well as Baccalaureate, BTEC Diplomas, GCSEs and a Pre-Degree Foundation Diploma in Art & Design. At your interview, we’ll discuss your plans and ambitions and put together a programme of study to suit you.
4
We’ll help you develop your gifts and talents.
If, like many of our students, you’ve been identified as gifted and talented at school, we’ll put together a special programme of activities and study to help you make the most of your unique abilities.
5
We’ll provide the best teaching.
Our teachers are some of the best in the business – friendly, experienced, full of ideas and real experts in their subjects. Above all, they’re committed to helping you get the grades you need for whatever you plan to do next.
6
We’ll support you, whatever your needs.
We don’t want anything to come between you and your ambitions. If you’re having trouble managing your time, need guidance on writing essays or revision, or you’re dealing with dyslexia or another learning difficulty, you’ll get the right support.
7
We’ll help you take your next step.
Whatever you hope to do after college, our dedicated careers team will help get you there. They specialise in UCAS coaching – in 2010 and 2011, 82% of our students were successful in their university applications, compared to 69% nationally – but they can also help you plan a gap year, go on to other types of study, or find your first real job.
8
We offer you a rich, fulfilling student life.
Our enrichment programme provides opportunities to try new things, take existing skills and interests further and meet new people – all great preparation for university and life after college. You could join our sports academies, go on trips in the UK and overseas, or take part in activities related to your studies. You’ll also be a member of our student union, which organises social events right through the year, including the Christmas Fair, Battle of the Bands and much more.
9
We keep in touch.
We send home regular reports and hold regular consultation evenings, to let your parents or guardians know how you’re doing, and how they can best help and support you in your studies.
10
We’re easy to get to.
We’re just a few minutes walk from Havant’s bus and railway stations, so we’re easy to reach from Portsmouth, Chichester, Petersfield, Waterlooville and Liss. We run a free bus service for students living in the Fareham and Portchester areas.
